Back in 2013, New Zealand born singer Lorde (real name Ella Yelich-O’Connor) released her incredibly successful debut album ‘Pure Heroine’ to the world. The album shot to number one in Australia and her native country of New Zealand, while also climbing to number three on the U.S. Billboard 200 and number four on the UK Albums Chart. The record gained the then 16-year-old global fame, with hits such as ‘Royals’ reaching the number one spot in over 15 countries and earning the newly famed star two Grammy Awards, catapulting her into one of the world’s most talked about musicians of the decade. After three long years of waiting for a follow up album, it seems the pop star is making her way back into the game.
According to a recent tweet by the singer-songwriter, Lorde cut herself off from the rest of the world for three days, travelling into the wilderness by helicopter in order to create fresh music for the new album. The tactic seems to have worked, with the star mentioning that she has made some exciting breakthrough with her new music.

Sending eagerly awaiting fans into a frenzy, the singer has not yet revealed any other information on her follow up album. Could we be seeing a new Lorde album by the end of 2016? We here at CelebMix certainly hope so.
Although the star has not released an album since her 2013 debut, she has not remained silent in the music industry. Back in late 2013, she released a cover version of the Tears for Fears single “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire film soundtrack. The star also recorded and wrote the first single from the soundtrack album to the new Hunger Games movie, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, entitled “Yellow Flicker Beat”. In addition to this, Lorde oversaw the collation of the album’s content, contributing vocals to several other songs on the album.
In 2015 the New Zealander appeared on UK electronic duo Disclosure’s second studio album Caracal, on the alternative track “Magnets”, which gained success in a number of countries, reaching number two in New Zealand and on the US Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles Chart. More recently, the singer led a tribute at the 2016 BRIT Awards to the late British singer David Bowie, performing “Life on Mars” to acclaim from fellow musicians and press.
